I play in a deeply sucessful Highschool Competition Marching Band and I am in the Pit percussion article, it is my second year in the trimming and I keep on getting these blisters on my index fingers from the mallets and they receive so painful that I can't grip my mallets correctly during other practices this is really making me play smaller amount than my full potential. I would greatly appriciate it if someone could tell me a speedy cure for whatever these blisters so I can bring back in full gear for competition season.I hang on to on getting blisters on my index fingers after percussion practice. How I prevent or capture rid of them.?
Have you tried drumming gloves? I hold a drumset, and if I play for awhile and don't use gloves my fingers get rough and sore.

Can you use grip cartridge on the sticks?
Find yourself some athletic tape and cassette your fingers prior to practice. Or you can find yourself some thin leather gloves, that should do it.
latex gloves, or gardening gloves near the little bumpies on them...not to competition of course. How something like band-aids?
there's no cure to blisters except to stop rubbing the skin that way. Good luck!
